May 14, Exercises feels strained and without natural flow!

Hi everyone,

The day has been offering a variety of lessons, lets start at the beginning:

First thing is the morning get up. Went up with girlfriend at 6:45am, while going to bed at 1:00am the day before. This gives about 5 hours and 45 minutes of sleep, rest. This is below recommended, but I got up, had breakfast and afterwards straight to the cognitive “” exercises. These went pretty well, satisfied by the way its done.

Then for the workout. Lots of questions coming up: “What exercises to do?” “Why is it you exercise?” “How will the rest of the week look like?” . It took about 15 – 20 minutes to pull the mind away from the thoughts, make the decision to go and get dressed for exercise and step outside. WOOOSH! its still cold here in Denmark with barefoot and just 2 sweat-shirts.

For the exercises the jumping rope and jumping jacks for warm-up goes fine, no sweat, though also no challenge! Which somehow shows up in the rest of the exercises, which by the way, where made up as we go along. This gives the ability to create the flow as you go, takes a lot of discipline and focus to accomplish. Today the kettle bell where with me out, so swinging around with this one became the most fun. Yes its only 12kg and this is becoming too light to give any challenge, but then we add some balance training and flip the kettle bell into the air and catch it again. Good Fun:D

Then for the gymnastic bars. These exercises are killers for me, hanging in the body weight, doing only 10 repetitions and they feel strained and forced. Well all in all, I do my best! Though an advice is giving for me here tonight, contemplating the day.

The advice is from a old 80’s movie with karate as its main theme. There a guy gets the “dead” Bruce Lee as his personal trainer. Bruce Lee teaches him about the mind, emptying it, but also how to act and exercise the body. The best advice is giving where the kid is doing some chest pushes with strings and struggling a lot, saying: “This feels so unnatural!”. Bruce Lee picks up an apple throws it at him, the kid just lets go and catches it. “How did that feel? Bruce Lee asks. “That feels just natural” Bruce Lee then adds: “Okay – from now on. – BE SPONTANEOUS!

So this advice came about tonight, lets see how we can bring this mindset about.
